Emmy will not air the writing category…
It’s been reported that the Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series category will not be televised on the Primetime Emmy this year, but instead will be aired as part of the Creative Emmy Awards on E! Apparently, it’s an agreement between the guilds and the TV academy “in which they agreed that the writing and the directing competitions for best variety, musical or comedy series (aka “VMC’s”) and VMC specials (think “Kennedy Center Honors”) would take turns being part of the televised portion of the two-night Emmy ceremony.” It’s really a drag since it produces some of the biggest laughs (seriously, the only laugh) in the whole ceremony since we all get to see the writers’ nomination video from Conan’s team to Jon Stewart’s to Stephen Colbert’s writers.
